Featherbed Railroad Bed & Breakfast located in Nice, CA
Enjoy a railway adventure where the train never leaves the station. The Featherbed Railroad Bed & Breakfast is a unique resort that allows guests to sleep in one of nine historic railroad cabooses. The railroad cars, built between the 1930s and 1950s, are set among a grove of oak trees overlooking Clear Lake in the town of Nice, located above the Napa & Sonoma Wine Country.
Featherbed Railroad Bed & Breakfast: Easy Rider caboose
Each refurbished caboose has its own distinct theme; Key West styled Tropicaboose, Harley-Davidson themed Easy Rider, Bogie and Bacall era Casablanca (with a piano and bar), bordello styled La Loose Caboose and Celebrations, which changes décor with the season or special occasion. Other sleeping cars include the Orient Express, Wild Wild West, Wine Country and Lover’s Caboose. All caboose suites have luxurious feather beds, coffee makers, refrigerators, private baths and most feature in-room Jacuzzi tubs. All have magnificent views of Clear Lake.
Featherbed Railroad Bed & Breakfast: Boat Dock & Lauch
Included with your stay at the Featherbed Railroad B&B is full and hearty breakfast served in the privacy of your rail car or at the Main Station, a century-old ranch house. The remainder of the day can be spent enjoying the peaceful park like setting, swimming in the outdoor pool, or boating on the lake (the resort has a boat dock and ramp). Innkeepers, Tony and Peggy Barthel, are delighted to offer suggested itineraries for those wishing to venture off property. The surrounding area offers miles of nature trails, fabulous water sports, bass fishing, antique shopping and wine tasting at nearly 30 premium wineries.

Amazing venture, - who wouldn't love to sleep in that kind of a caboose! Great choice for F.
ReplyDeleteThis is very unique experience. Good to see it is being maintained and used properly.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to Clear Lake in years.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a delightful B&B. I must remember it.
What a clever idea! Though it might be even more fun if it were moving!

ReplyDeleteHow absolutely wonderful! I should like to sleep in such a caboose! Thanks for your visit!
ReplyDeleteOoo ... I think I would reserve the Casablanca caboose. Would not mind if they had Bogie & Bergmann AND Bacal. All three were great and leave a hole in my heart.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like luxury with whimsy thrown in to make it more charming. Yep, this is a place I'd love to visit.
ReplyDeleteNow on the list of places to stay at when I've won the lottery! I'm new in town and I post from various blogs so last week my E was a 50-word story called The Prince of Darkness is a gentleman. This week my F is a poem called The final seaside trip. I hope you have a good week!
ReplyDeleteFun! I just saw an ad in the local rag for a remodeled caboose for sale - must be moved, of course...but what a fantastic dream!
ReplyDeleteYou really have a knack for discovering some truly offbeat gems - and a nice way of expressing the "vibe" of the place too..
ReplyDeleteI've actally stayed here. My husband is a train buff. We both loved it!
ReplyDeleteWe just came back from staying at.Featherbed resort. We stayed in the wine country caboose. It was very cute and the complimentary extras really made our stay while visiting wine country with family.
