Halloween isn’t until October, but plenty of people will be in costume June 19 and 20. That’s when the Northern California Pirate Festival transforms the Vallejo Waterfront into a makeshift Pirate Town. More than 30,000 freebooter fans will gather for two days to enjoy some of the best pirate & nautical-theme entertainment you’ll find around. The extravaganza, now in its fourth year, is considered to be one of the biggest and best Pirate Festivals in the country. All things pirate will be featured – tall ships, explosive cannon battles, swordfighting, maritime goods and crafts, children's activities, musical entertainment and plenty of delicious grub.
Visitors are encouraged to come in costume as the festival attempts to break the Guinness World Record for most costumed pirates in one place at one time. The previous record is held in the UK with 1,722 pirates. Judging will be at 4pm on Saturday, so dawn your eye patch, wooden leg and bandana and be among the 3,500 swashbucklers the festival hopes to register for the world record breaker.
Shiver me timbers! Entry to the festival is free.
