Springfest on Mammoth Mountain
While sunshine lures most spring breakers to the coastline, you may want to pack your bikini and swim trunks and head for the slopes of Mammoth Mountain. The snow resort, which averages 300 sunny days each year, kicked off the spring season last week with Springfest, a month and a half long celebration filled with events, entertainment and travel deals. For the college crowd there are parties, contests, live music and drink specials. For the family there are games, parades, and playtime activities. Everyone gets to enjoy some of the deepest snow in North America - all while basking in warm temperatures under clear, blue skies. So go ahead, pack the suntan lotion, hats and shorts – you’ll get good use of them up at Mammoth.
Springfest runs through April 21, 2013. Mammoth will remain open with lifts running at least through Memorial Day, perhaps longer if winter storms continue.
Mammoth Mountain is located in the Eastern Sierra approximately 50 minutes from the eastern gate of Yosemite National Park. Flights are available to Mammoth-Yosemite airport on Alaska Airlines and United Airlines from Los Angeles, Orange County, San Francisco and San Diego. For driving directions, please click here.
