Buellton: OstrichLand USA - Bird Watching Gone Wild

What would you do if you were driving down a road and passed a sign that read “OstrichLand”? You’d be a little curious, wouldn’t you? In the central coastal town of Buellton, about 40 miles northeast of Santa Barbara, such a place exists. This intriguing roadside stop offers a unique opportunity to view these giant, 300 pound flightless birds.

Originally intended as a commercial hay business, OstrichLand USA has morphed over the years into the tourist attraction it is today. With over 50 ostriches and emus, you can feed the feisty creatures or be entertained by watching others doing so. A quirky gift shop on the site sells items ranging from T-shirts to fresh emu and ostrich eggs. Whether you stop for five minutes or a couple of hours, you're certain to leave with a smile and a renewed focus on roadside signs.

OstrichLand USA is open daily from 10:00am until dark
Admission is $4.00. Age 12 years and below is $1.00
