Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk: Giant Dipper Roller Coaster

The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk rolls back prices Monday and Tuesday evenings through August 31, 2010 when it hosts “1907 Nights”. After 5pm, visitors pay just $1 per ride! Hot dogs, Pepsi brand fountain drinks and cotton candy are also just $1 each. The 103-year old seaside amusement park features more than 34 rides and attractions including the world famous 1924 Giant Dipper wooden roller coaster featured in films such as “Sudden Impact” and “Dangerous Minds”. You’ll also find video game arcades, miniature golf, a bowling facility, shopping, restaurants and fast food stands along the half-mile long historical Boardwalk. And for Friday night fun, don’t miss the weekly free “Bands On the Beach” concerts through September 3, 2010. Upcoming artists include Flock of Seagulls (Aug. 6) and Spin Doctors (Aug. 13).

The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is about a 75-minute drive from San Francisco and 30 minutes from the San Jose area. To get to the Boardwalk, take Highway 17 or scenic Highway 1 to Santa Cruz and follow the street signs to Santa Cruz Beach.
