San Diego: Bayfair – Thunderboats Return to San Diego



The peaceful waters of Mission Bay will resonate with thunder when the H1 Unlimited Hydroplanes return to San Diego’s Bayfair September 17-19, 2010. Absent for a year, the thunderboats have long been the featured attraction at the action packed competition. Reaching speeds over 200 miles per hour, the lightning-fast powerboats will race across the Bill Muncey Memorial Race Course, the fastest course in the Unlimited Hydroplane Racing Circuit. Other racing classes joining the H1s include Grand Prix and offshore boats, PWC, Cracker Boxes and tunnel boats. Over 160,00 spectators are expected to attend the 3-day event that also includes live entertainment, vendors, specialty foods, beer gardens, family activities and fireworks.
