San Francisco: Hotel Triton – Ice Cream Inspired Suite

The ingenious folks at Hotel Triton in San Francisco have a winning recipe to lure visitors to its fabulous 140-room boutique hotel in Union Square - a custom-designed room inspired by ice cream. It’s one of four designer celebrity suites at the hotel.

The Haagen-Dazs “Sweet Suite” is a luxurious room coated in warm vanilla and caramel colors and decorated with flavorful details such as ice cream scented candles. The bed’s rich, handcrafted headboard is shaped like the Haagen-Dazs cartouche and atop the bed is a waffle-textured throw. Red leather ottomans with logo’d pillows provide a place to relax and guests can curl up in specially made bathrobes. Books on ice cream are even available for leisurely reading. The focal point of the room, however, is the “Sweet Spot,” a chilled cabinet filled with Haagen-Dazs ice cream and ice cream bars. The cabinet is also stocked with bowls, scoops and spoons – everything required for guests to enjoy the frozen treats. Here’s the best part – guests can indulge in as many pints as they desire. It's complimentary and there's no limit! So go ahead, eat until you are unable to waddle to the cabinet for more. You can always walk off the calories climbing the hilly streets of San Francisco.

The “Sweet Suite” was designed by local Bay Area interior design firm, Marsh & Clark Design. A portion of each “Sweet Suite" guest’s tab will be donated to the Haagen-Dazs ice cream charity of choice, Delancey Street Foundation. Guests can also purchase the custom Haagen-Dazs bathrobes and ice cream scented candles, with all proceeds benefiting the charity. Hotel Triton is part of the Kimpton family of hotels, one of nine in San Francisco.

  2. That's a very unique hotel! It must be very tempting, and difficult to avoid eating the ice-cream.

  3. Gayle, I've heard of this hotel but now I want to stay there. My daughter and her husband and my precious grandson (see, I just can't resist!) just stayed two nights in the City - they would have loved this space as they are dedicated ice cream addicts. Thanks for sharing!

  5. I never stayed at that hotel when working in the City. Perhaps it is a good thing. Ice Cream for my breakfast, lunch and dinner wouldn't be too good for me. I think I would have enjoyed it for the moment though.

  9. Like Jane T., I got a giggle out of "waddle" because I could just see myself waddling over to get more.
The Sweet Suite sounds like a good place for me to avoid because it would all be just too tempting. A luxurious take on the #1 favorite choice for the "I" word.

  14. Aaaaah ... if only I could eat the stuff! But sadly, like a lot of the upmarket ice creams, it has egg in it. *Sigh ... *

Great post! I had no idea such a place existed!
